You were there to remind me, this is the start
Henry Lau was born in Canada to two very normal parents. They lived in a normal neighborhood, in a normal house. A few years later his normal parents gave birth to a normal little baby girl named Emily, a sister for their normal son. And so the normal family grew up. His father was a normal businessman and his slightly-less-than-normal mother had a slightly-less-than-normal job as a self employed interior design. Everything in Henry's life was normal, and perfect. He had the perfect family, the perfect sister which was rare, he was even rather good at school. He was a gifted violinist and was planning to take his grade 8 exam, and then one day, things got not so normal anymore.

You're in the middle of the ride
His parents decided that it was time to get out of the rat race and up and moved, in a totally un-normal way, to South Korea of all places. Why? Because his mother was from China. Yeah, it made no sense to Henry either. One moment he was enjoying his normal life and then next, he was on a plane, trying desperately to learn a language that he hated to go live in a country where everything was not Canada. He had to move away from his perfectly normal friends and move to a different school where everyone wore a uniform, and spoke differently and... it was weird. Henry didnt like it. He made that very clear to his parents by playing up, running away, drinking and then moving on to going to clubs. Living in Canada had been very educational in teaching him how to forge an ID so getting in wasnt the problem. He'd often leave stone-drunk and ended up stumbling home by himself, crawling in to bed and sleeping it off in class the next morning. And then, if things weren't bad before, things get even worse.

But in the end, it doesn't even matter
One night, coming home from a night out with his new mates, a black bag was thrown over his head and before he could say anything, he was hit over the head with something heavy and all he knew was black. What felt like hours later, he awoke and found himself... in a room with other equally as confused people who looked as if they'd been pulled out of reality and shoved into a Harry Potter movie. When everything was explained, how he would become someone's pet, and vampires existed, he couldnt really believe it, didnt really believe it at first. But then he saw the harsh reality of his predicament and gave up struggling, learnt to be a good pet, and awaited his time to be picked by a vampire.

Is it a theory of pure scepticism
Henry is a well-spoken boy, he was brought up well. He is cheerful, as cheerful as stroppy teenagers can be at his age (18), but is also extremely headstrong and stubborn if he doesnt get his own way, something he's used to in the upbringing he's had. He's a slight chauvinist, but is also extremely gentleman-ly, in that he will do anything for a girl. He's very kind and very thoughtful sometimes, often offering a random bit of insight that makes people go '..ah..'
